More about Risograph technology: It dates back as far as the 40s, but it didn't become a printing staple until the 90s with the DIY punk zine scene. The word itself translates to “ideal”, which ultimately is the goal of Riso. Finding the happy medium of high volume, color overlays, and cost efficiency is truly the most rewarding part of this puzzling quirky copier. Its bright and electric neon colors are thanks for the eco-friendly formula of its inks. All colors contain different ratios of soy or rice oils, which naturally shows off the potency of the color pigments. Like screen printing, riso is printed by color layer. And we can play with transparencies and color overlays.
